Thank you everyone, I am trying to draw in a few styles and am really enjoying distilling things down to the most basic elements. The village is a fishing village on the US east coast. The huts are knocked together from God knows what and are complete utilitarian. It was very hard not to go “fiddley” with it but I am pleased with the result. The latest two pictures were the same but I thought if I added some color it would suit it a little better. Anyway enjoying the feedback as I enjoy your art.
This and your last few posts inspired me to try and do something in a similar, as you well put it distilled, style so i tried it with a few old holiday photos but i just cant get it right annoyingly. any tips would be much appreciated.
cheers,
max
Max,
You know how you get several lines to follow on the edge of objects? I just pick the most dominate line and ignore everything else. I find a few pints of lager help the process. It is easier to do with simple subjects, I am going to try some of the buildings around Cambridge, might be a different story.

Great drawing, I like the very precise way you did this linework.

These are cool- totally different from your other sketches; great to try totally new styles.

Is this village in Japan? The simplicity would be mucked with if you added anything to it and I think it’s perfect the way it is.
