I live in a little ski-resort, with two ski-lifts… This drawing is from the top of the main lift. Looking to the south, nice pine-tree and mountains cliffs in the background. With the red fruits in the fore-ground, I make marmelade, C vitamins for winter.

I always like drawings with trees in them and this is superb! I’m impressed with the red fruits complementing the green on the leaves. They seem to draw the eye into your painting.

I’m mainly drawing mountains and landscapes. But when I was pro-photographer, I all the time took photos of trees, not for my work, but with the goal to draw them, later. Even if I wasn’t a drawer, I didn’t draw at this past time. I feel something great in the trees. The most impressive, that was in south-Corea, some very, very, very old pine-trees wild in the mountains, with incredible wonderful shapes, and they had got a perfusion in the trunc, with a bottle sticked on them all. Really. I’ve got some photos about that, but not enough of course, not enough to draw them all now. And I won’t get there anymore, unfortunately.

I have found this book very useful when drawing trees. If you can get a hold of it you will find lots of examples of trees – not that you need to improve. The book is “Drawing Trees, Step by Step” by Stanley Maltzman -Published by North Light Books, Cincinnati Ohio (www.nlbooks.com) ISBN 0-89134-885-9. It cost about $25 in 2000. In the meantime keep these scenes coming my friend.

Amazing that there are apple trees growing in such altitude. Beautiful work again, a view on paradise !
Are your tree photographs published ?
Boulgakow 2:51 pm on November 4, 2008 | #
No tree photographs published, I was ski and snowboard pro-photographer for 15 years. Only action shots and a few lifestyle, travel, landscapes, image but definitely not a lot in the ski or snowboard reports for magazines…

Hi Nikira,
I was asking about his book because i am also a photographer working for a newspaper in London and i think he is the father of a good friend of mine named Olga. I am not sure if they are in contact but it was purely out of curiosity that i asked. I would love to see his pictures if maybe he has a website or something.
Thanks for getting back so prompt.
Peter
