Kandern, Germany. Very nice day to sketch. The sun finally came out after hiding for a few days. I had a lunch break and a dry chair- took advantage of it.

I agree with bob. You did this in only a luchbreak? Good work.

Thanks, Rene. I go fast as I use the watercolor as mostly a wash, barely wait for it to dry before putting on the next color. Then I use black as a shadow wash. Total time- about hour and a half.

Interesting that you use black for your shadows since its difficult to control without making things “dead” looking. (Although you manage this admirably, Rob, he hastily added) Try a mixture of Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna with a touch of Alizaren Crimson instead. It seems to combine well with most underlying colours.

Will do! Thanks, Bob. Looks like I need to invest in some real watercolors. I just use the dime store elementary school watercolor kit with colors like blue and green and red and yellow!

this is great – man, you are prolific and good – a strong combination and recipe for getting even better.

Beautful! Even pushes the homesicknes button just a little bit, but I wouldn’t trade California for any other place on earth— even when that button is pushed.

I really feel the place you’ve drawn in this one… Feels like I am there! This is exquisite!

Thanks all. This site is a great forum for sharing and learning. I see a lot of people really improving (me included) as they try new things.
