I just felt like telling a story about an old “49er.” After a hard day, time to sit by the fire with a cup of coffee sounds just right. pen/ink, watercolor

This looks exactly how I feel at the moment except I’m out of coffee. Seriously Rob, you drawing captures brilliantly a tired expession and a well-deserved rest. Like your use of the light and dark.

I LOVE this one!As you know, searching for gold really is hard, hard work, but I still see them out and about by the rivers, especially by the Yuba; only now they use dredgers—-and some people actually do still make a living at it combined with their social security. I find these eccentric characters fascinating.

Yes. My grandpa always talked about the Yuba River. A great memory- panning for gold with my grandpa.
