The Royal Tea Taster and The Empress Of All The Known Universe And Other Bits That Have Not Been Discovered Yet.
Studies for Cloud Tea Monkeys by Mal Peet. There had been hopes of my illustrating it, but unfortunately, the project fell through.

as usual, i love it! the details are simply incredible!it really is amazing how you’re able to really bring them to life for us. what kind of pencil do you use to get such fine detail while keeping it so clean?

Thank you, Alan!
For these, I use mechanical pencils with 0.5 and 0.3 leads just so I don’t have to keep stopping to sharpen. I’m also light-handed, which helps, though it does sometimes mean you mightn’t see much unless they get quite close… You can see a fine web of lose underdrawing at the early stages too if you do.

stunning! I love your work. Just went to your Deviant pages and felt like I’d travelled back in time and around the globe looking at your beautiful illustrations. Fantastic. Please post more here at Skineart!
