Haymarket Chaos – Pencil and Ink
A quick sketch to “vent my spleen” at the continuing chaos caused by the work being undertaken to install trams in Edinburgh. Although I’m not a native of Scotland’s capital city I feel ashamed and dismayed that this disruption has gone on for years. Perhaps one day we will be told why all this happened. In the meantime this is the view at Edinburgh’s Haymarket, one of the busiest junctions coming into the city. There are four main roads which meet at this point and many diversions need to be used. My late mother was born and brought up just around the corner and would have been dismayed at all of this. In the meantime, visit Edinburgh at your peril.

Typical government project. Same happened in Phoenix Arizona U.S. I will admit however that the end result justified the wait, at least in that instance. I would also suspect that the older the city, the more carefully the work must be done. I will put (in my minds eye) a garish gamboge color for the tractor in this great sketch. OUCH. That really hurts the antique ambiance! Lol and a firm handshake Uncle!

I take a small amount of perverse pleasure in realising that this sort of thing is nor unique to my back yard. I just hope that you got your building work completed. Ours is 5 years over schedule and over budget and still on-going. The main reason is the contract was not researched properly and the contractors were continually frustrated at being told to alter things to suit the utilities (which are buried in the centre of the roads) They got fed up and actually stopped work a year or so ago but are back on the job – at a higher price.
The colour of the tractor? – any colour you wish as long as it yellow
