Summer – Watercolour
Another entry for this month’s Challenge. Its a scene from last year and, hopefully, this will be repeated in the months to come – if the rain ever stops.

I love butterflies so much. There was (maybe still is) a big tent at the Bronx zoo, you go in there and there’s a whole building full of them, flying around right in front of you. You know that monarch butterflies migrate to the same exact BRANCH from where they were born from the whole world away. There are a lot more varieties of MOTHS though, you’d be surprised. I’m not sure what the difference is. Sophie

I’m unsure what the difference is too, Sophie. I looked this up and it really confused me:

When I was a small child someone once told me that the difference was Butterflies always fold their wings when resting on plants while Moths keep theirs flat. I always assumed that was one way to tell the difference. Another might be that moths tend to appear at night time. Someone is now going to tell me that these statements are untrue.
You seem to be correct about the Bronx Zoo, however. This looks great. Time to get back down there with your sketchbook. Regards, Bob
