I really like the control you were able to get on the washes, I have trouble being that precise. And the light around the head is fantastic.

Thanks Bosque! The sketch Moleskine is very unforgiving to watercolors so it can be difficult to get it to work. I try to not overwork the washes but that’s easier said than done. The key seems to be getting the ratio of paint to water correct. For this piece, I switched to an opaque watercolor tray set made by Pelikan. It seemed to help because the opaque watercolors don’t need as much water as transparent watercolors.
