Waiting for Spring – Watercolour
BBC television have been running a series of programmes about Yosemite National Park in The USA. One of the the most, to me that is, memorable scenes is a herd of buffalo standing in the snow. It is fast approaching spring and the commentator is saying that these animals will have to rely on body fat to survive until the grass become visible again. Its a rather pathetic sight seeing these beasties just standing looking miserable. Hope food became available quickly.
I wonder if I stood around in the snow I could loose some weight? Not much chance as there is very little of the white stuff this year – so far!

So peaceful and nice. Beautiful work. How you did the white? Masking fluid or shpritz on the top?

Thanks Nikira
Did this with a new (for me that is) type of masking fluid. I got a couple of bottles yesterday to try. You have to trim the nozzle to allow the thickness required. This was trimmed near the end and gave me lots of small white “snow flakes”. I covered the parts which would have some darker areas first with this stuff then painted all of the rest, removing the “frisket” last of all. The buffaloes were painted with Inktense (forgot to mention this) which allowed me to overpaint them with the watery background afterwards.
