Sketched people around me. This little boy with Mohawk noticed me drawing and engaged me into adult like conversation about drawings, styles, favorite pencils, anime, comics, comic stories about fights with devils, etc. I usually avoid even eye contact to keep my freedom, but had to respond to his direct questions. Funny, I didn’t feel that I am talking to a child, but to a fellow artist.

Yes. This is something we should all keep in mind. Art is a form of communication and your words describe this communication between two souls of equal interaction. How fortunate to meet a a fellow soul-mate and I hope this experience will shape his future

Bob, I didn’t show him that I drew him. I showed the next page. He said “You are really good”. I don’t know if it will really leave mark on his life, I didn’t do enough, was kinda strange to ignore his father, or I don’t know who he was to a child. He kept smiling , but I though the boy is more mature, my impression. We even touched a subject: finishing drawing with some computer programs, like Photoshop and Painter. I use to teach kids, it made me miss it.

But my point was that you crossed a divide between strangers, one which we often feel afraid to attempt. Remember your altercation with the guy on the subway who felt that you were invading his space? In this case you used your artistic abilities to reach out and interest someone. I don’t know if this will leave a mark on his life. Perhaps not! But this should not stop us trying. Who knows you might have even inspired someone to become the next Michaelangelo. Now, isn’t that a goal to aim for and a good reason to use your talents for? When we, in Scotland, are inducted into the National Church we promise to use our time, talents and money for the good of others. Using your talents seems a good start.

Well put Uncle! Bless the innocents of a child and educate them for the benefit of us all. My wife is a teacher. It seems my favorite people have always been teachers. I just realized this!
