As for the lined paper; recently I ended up with a few moleskine notebooks (not sketchbooks) by accident and, since they’re still paper to draw on, I’ve been using them.
I’ve found that in some cases I just ignore the lines all together while in others I use them as guides for whatever I’m doing (sometimes I inadvertently get ‘stuck’ to the lines and the page comes out looking very forced and rigid rather than purposeful); it’s at least giving me a different way than I’m used to think about filling a page and I like the opportunity (although I think I still prefer the blank pages overall).
