Life Study – Watercolour
The result of a friend showing me how to use hard edges, by glazing in layers, in order to create form as well as background shadows to add value to the study. Seems to have worked.

Sweet! Did you use a support other than Moleskine for this?

Spot on 6Artist27. I used Fabriano HP Watercolour paper for this. I wanted its hard smooth surface, which I normally use for fine detail, to allow the paint to lie in “ridges” on top of the previous layer without creeping into the adjacent, textured surface. It also seemed to help when adding the background. This was last to go down (I hate using frisket) so I worked clean water carefully up to the edges of the painting then allowed the dark hues to work towards this “limit” and no further. I didn’t think any textured paper, such as Moleskine’s, would have helped here. Thanks for the feedback.
