To brighten the dullest day – Inktense
This is an interpretation of part of our rear garden and shows a “Pieris Japonica”. I painted this almost by accident. I was finding it impossible to work indoors as my studio faces the front of the house where a neighbour had builders tearing up their front drive. I retreated to the rear of the house, out into the garden and, armed with a set of Inktense pencils, a dish of water and an easel then settled down to a peaceful spell. Five minutes later – Why are the local kids so noisy? Why do they have to scream and shriek? Why am I getting more and more grumpy as I get older? Answers on a large postcard please. Time to go back indoors.

That’s a lovely drawing Uncle Bob. I know what you mean about noisy neighbourhood kids though. I’m lucky we don’t have to many around where I live now but my previous abode had some very noisy neighbours who never heard of headphones (and I really not all that keen on hip hop music!). I’ve got a set of Inktense pencils a year ago and haven’t had a chance to use them much but you’re painting has really inspired me to dig them out again.

Thanks DozyDog. I’ve had Inktense pencils for a couple of years now and they are great. If you have a chance, however, try the new “Inktense Blocks” which are similar to pastel sticks measuring 5/16″ x 5/16″ x 3″. You can see what they are like here:

BTW please don’t think I dislike children. I quite like them but could’t eat a whole one at once

I like shape and color and see why the name seems so right. I am that sort of neighbor who likes music loud and all kinds of music and don’t like headphones. This why I am the happiest to have no neighbors Upstate and very powerful subwoofers.
