The Pride of the Union – Pencil
One of the nice things about the fantastic recent weather is to be able to sit comfortably, outside, and sketch. This is a pencil sketch of one of the barges which use the canal near us. Its been converted into a floating restaurant and is based at the Bridge Inn here in Ratho. Its very popular for dining and even marriage ceremonies take place on board. I’ll use this rough sketch to be worked up into a full sized watercolour at a later date.

Nice sketch Bob, you can’t beat sitting in the sun drawing.

You’re not wrong Martin although sometimes the wind can be annoying. In this part of the world we regularly experience breeze from the sea which changes as the day progresses. I’ve learned to sketch with bulldog clips and rubber bands over the ends of the pages. Its a real tragedy when I forget to take these out with me. Thanks for your comment.
