Almondell Park Visitor Centre – Pastel on textured paper
Another experiment to see if complementary colours could be used for a worthwhile scene. I used a piece of textured watercolour paper and lightly applied some blue pastel creating a lightly mottled effect for the background. The rest of the picture was finished by applying orange details with a wet brush transferring the pastel to the paper. The true colours do not show here as my scanner has a mind of its own e.g. the white of the paper has turned to yellow and these colours are different in real life. Another reason might be that its hard to get true colours, from my limited range of pastels, which form true complimentary pairs. Must try the same thing again using watercolours as I think the experiment has possibilities.

I like this grainy texture in Almond*ell park and monochromatic color.

I suppose it is something different, Nikira. I have come full circle with all my experiments and will probably go back to watercolours from now on knowing that other stuff can be mixed into my efforts. Glad you like the texture in this.
