When I was drawing this picture, it didn’t have any direction or meaning. Slowly it formed into a couple teetering on an unstable edge, surrounded by a crazy mess of emotion. I thought it was a happy picture until someone pointed this out to me. But I still think it’s happy. The fact that the couple is hugging, the ledge still seems sturdy, and they aren’t touched by any of the swirls makes it seem like they are content. But I suppose it is all a matter of opinion. I will leave it up to you.

I love this picture and think you should work it into a painting. To me it shows what true love really is, a calm and secure refuge in the frantic motion of a rather dangerous world, a place to go when everything seems to be on the edge and may fall apart—-except for the two people who love each other. It’s beautiful!!!

Agreed Roseindigo, I think it follows with G Klimt and O Kokoschka in a way. Good on you Crane!
