Tiny Beeches in Snowy Ground – Watercolour
Nothing special about this but I was intrigued by the way these small trees have kept some of their leaves through the whole winter. The snow is fast going but these plants stand, in a frost covered hillock in the local woods, with most of their leaves attached. The trees are only about 2 feet high and I had some difficulty in getting some scale into this scene. In my first attempt, I drew a small mouse, peeking out from behind the tree. This didn’t work as it looked as if the trees were “normal height” with a giant rodent underneath. Suggestions welcome.

Uncle Bob- Lovely! For scale maybe a picket fence post or mail box… Waiting for a message from Spring?

Good idea, Candace. Why didn’t I think of a fence post? The place is surrounded by them. Spring is not too far away but we usually get of snowiest weather around now, in these parts, so winter might not have finished with us yet. Last year we had snow well into March and some gorgeous weather in May. I think spring gave us a miss in 2010. Thanks for the kind feedback.
