Stricken 3 – This is the third of nine in this series. I had to graft a new piece of paper over one of the bottom waves with the bird, but luckily it doesn’t notice.
I really love this whole series. I think I especially like the sense of motion and foreboding in the waves; there’s a bleak, Lovecraftian feel to the whole thing for me and I really like it.
Thanks plasma! I really enjoy drawing waves. I hope to get the whole Lovecraftian thing happening in all my work. I like everything to look almost frozen in time.
love it! Do you apply black around the white streaks in the waves? Or do you paint the waves black and then paint the white over the black? (I think you said you worked it all in ink… in which case, that’s amazing). Either way, it doesn’t matter – the final effect is superb.
Thanks Margie. Everything on these little pictures is drawn with various sized technical pens. I use brush and ink as well for larger work including white on top of black, but not for these ones. Filling in around white lines is quite time consuming unfortunately!
