Memories Of Ernest Shackleton – Watercolour
This is one of the many boats and barges stuck in ice on our canal during the snow and ice of recent weeks. It reminded me of Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance which was lost in his epic expedition of 1914. Mind you, they had to endure temperatures much lower than the (-10C) when this was photographed. Sadly, most of our snow is vanishing fast and the canal is ice free again. The good news is that more colder weather, with some snow, is forecast over the next few months. Brrrr!

My dear grandson – this is marvelous! Now I can rest assured my descendants will continue spreading finest works of art worldwide. No need for me to touch the brush again!

Uncle Bob- The “Shakleton” scene is another beauty! Such atmosphere! Also a nice way to record the epic storm in your area. So much more interesting than a mere photo.

This one is filling my heart with joy! I expose it on my desktop during these ”brrr” days here, in Sarmatia Minor.
Greetings, Sir!

Good of you all to give me feedback.
Arqetancourt – as usual I’m pleased this pleases you
como siempre, me alegro de esto agrada
Ziza (Grandpa) – How nice BUT don’t think you are going to get away with no postings that easily. I suggest you resume sending stuff or I will instigate a “Bring back Ziza” thread in the forum to pressure you.
(WHAT DO OTHERS THINK??????)
Candace – I immediately thought of Shackleton’s doomed boat when I saw this one stuck in the ice. He has long been a hero of mine and his account of that expedition is worth a read.
Arhitectul – I suspect(from your comment) you share the same cold weather as us. I should paint a warmer scene to “heat you up”
