Bridge Inn, Ratho – Ink and Watercolour in a Watercolour Moleskine
This is copied from a recent photo taken during last week’s snow. I’ve taken hundreds of local snapshots so will be able to bore you all for ages with my “Brrrr” paintings. I love the snow – especially when I don’t have to travel far in it. Most of my recent outings have been around the village as transport has ground to a halt and has caused great problems for those who need to travel. Schools were also shut. Now that the snow has begun to melt there is a sense of some relief but more is forecast for Wednesday night. What a great winter this is turning out to be.

Brrr is right! I can almost feel the cold. Great color in this.

Another great winter landscape that us makes the Christmas spirit happy and invites us to the familiar concentration, congratulations!
Otro gran paisaje invernal que nos alegra el espíritu navideño y nos invita al recogimiento familiar, felicidades!

Very nice. Colors and composition. My husband and I couldn’t stop laughing that you have to dig the path in the snow for Magnus to take a walk. What is he doing in the snow?

BRRRR, Another goose flesh rush from your talented hands. Think I’ll grab my woolens before I look at any more of your winter landscapes. It’s 18C here now, that is sweater weather for me!

Nice of you, spookrach. It wasn’t that cold – only about (-8C) that day
Arqetancourt. Lo bueno de las escenas de invierno es que NO nos recuerdan de la Navidad y todas las cosas buenas relacionadas con esta temporada de buena voluntad. Como siempre, gracias por sus lindos comentarios.
The good thing about winter scenes is that it DOES remind us of Christmas and all of the nice things connected with this season of goodwill. As usual, thank you for your nice comments.
Good you had a laugh but Magnus is no longer speaking to anyone. Now, “What is he doing in the snow?” He is doing what we would prefer him NOT TO DO inside the house.
Greyseal. 18C emse a distant memory. How about sending a picture of some sunny and warm stuff then our combined efforts would cancel each other out. He He. Thanks for your comment

I sure would like to see your process, these snowy pictures sure are nice.

Sorry if I was rude. We thought Magnus take walks in the forrest to enjoy views. Here is unthinkable to let cats go outside to the bathroom.

Another lovely scene of your surrounding snowy countryside. Now that I’m in sunny So. California visiting with my son and the new twins I see palm trees out the window, although we are expecting some rain this afternoon. But I am intrigued by roses still in bloom and all the succulents and geraniums too. When I get more acclimated I will be wandering around to all the botanical gardens I can find to do some sketching. Hopefully I can then participate again. My camera certainly has been very busy for this while trip.

Much obliged, Boofredlay. I’m not sure if I have any sort of “plan or process” but I find that, with snow scenes, because I’m trying to get lots of contrast with the light snow, if I put in the shadows first it helps. In this case (and my next posting) I have used a “Pitt Artist black brush pen” which is waterproof and can be washed over with lighter colours. These dark areas allow me to then construct the rest of the scene around the shapes. Give it a go. It might work for you as well.

Hi Rose. Good to hear from you and glad you are enjoying the warmth. Please send some here. Snow is nice to look at but a bit of a pain to endure sometimes. Thanks for the comment.

No problem Nikira. I don’t really know what Magnus gets up to in the woods but can guess.
