Just a Tree – Pencil and some ink with graphitint on Bristol Board
If you look at Nikira’s post of October 5th http://www.skineart.com/art/16178/near-park-slope-first-drew-with-palomin/#comments you will see that I mention a new “Palomino Blackwing” which is a modern revamp of a famous pencil from yesteryear. If you are interested look them up on http://www.pencils.com
I decided to do this on smooth Bristol Board just to see how the pencils worked with this surface. Apologies not to use my Moleskine but I thought you all might like to see this with the link for the pencils.

So, what did you think of the Blackwing? I just tried them out last night and the post should show up tomorrow. Personally, I like them and think they perform as well as Hi-Uni’s and Mono’s. I found them smoother than those but only to an extent noticeable when switching back and forth.

Oh, I could see how smooth pencil goes.I got mine today, didn’t sharpen yet, look so elegant. Got 3 pencil heads-protectors Kum with golden PAlomino HB. Graphitint is in what form? stick? or pencil?

Just revisited some of my posts (I’ve been really busy for the past couple of weeks) and discovered all these nice comments. I’m sorry I did not reply sooner. I don’t seem to get emails notifying stuff on my own posts so, if I don’t look at what I’ve sent, I miss them. Leo promised to sort this out so maybe its fixed now.
che pablo. Only tried the Blackwings for a couple of small sketches but have already discovered that they are great for blocking in vast areas when used on their sides. They blend well with a paper tortillion and the intense darks don’t seem to smudge as much as other grades of “normal” ones IE 2B and 4B. Yes they are smoother than most of my other pencils – except, of course, the golden Palominos
Nikira. Graphitint is a water soluble pencil made by Derwent. The colours are subtlety intense but not as much as Inktense. I suspect they will work well with the new Blackwings

Nuria and Gadgetman I appreciate your kind comments. Its always good to get such feedback. It makes me try harder – or even try again! What a pity the “Faves” option had to be cancelled as this was one way to let folks know how their stuff was perceived. This was not to be as the site seemed to be slowed down which makes people’s written feedback, such as yours, all the more appreciated. Thank you
@Thank you all and apologies for the long time to reply
