Your nice painting reminds me of the time my passport went missing while in Paris. We were standing in the Avenue des Champs-Élysées near the Arc de Triomphe and feeling totally lost. The Air France building was the only place I recognised so we went in to ask for directions to the British Embassy. A nice young lady kindly ushered us into her office and made a few phone calls (I could not understand the dialling system) even arranging for the embassy to remain open that Friday night to give us emergency documents. I was so grateful. Two years later we returned, armed with chocolates and flowers – but Air France had moved. I hope my letter of thanks reached the person concerned. Must return to this beautiful city again one day.
