Its not for me to compare and contrast this with your previous efforts but I know how hard rocks and water are to draw. This, in my opinion, is great. Your use of shadow has worked well giving form to the stones and movement to the water. I DO KNOW, from experience, that regular sketching definitely works and, if you find things going stale, you can switch to another topic. Keep this up!
