This is a view of Alvin’s First National Bank and Walmart. I did this is watercolor and decided I had more time so I layered the colors more. Looks more like a architectual rendering.

Great! People ought to paint suburbia more. Not pictoresque old quarters of town. Otherwise we’ll leave posterity a completely distorted view of how people in the early 21th century lived.

I used to drive through Alvin on the way to Galveston. Looks like it’s grown quite a bit. I remember a little bank with a logo that looks like the flag of New Mexico.
Peeta…with art depicting 21st century suburbia, we can show future generations that our lives were run by corporate America and that we have no individual personality. They will see that our lives are much more enjoyable because of box stores and chain restaurants and mega-malls and houses that all look alike. Hopefully we won’t destroy all of the land and water for posterity.
