The term “river training” is interesting. There is a nice simplicity to this image. Much nicer than a computer generated image.

Thank you Bob and Susan. River training, however odd, is the official engineering term. However, if we come up with better one we could propose it on one of the international conferences – perhaps it is time to do so…
