everytime i’m driving home by train i see those nesty things in the trees, i’m not sure they are plants or nests. but as they’re so circular, they’re parasite plants.

I love those things. I’ve always assumed they were nests. Sketched them lots of times myself. I think they are pretty lovely.

Yes, it is mistletoe and it is a parasite plant. Our oak trees are filled with it, and you can only see it in the winter when the trees are bare.

My thought is also mistletoe, even before reading the comments. Mistletoe also grows in hackberry trees. This is a stunning image! Well done.

It depends what they look like. If they look like they’re made of dead leaves, they might be squirrel nests. If they look more plant-y, it might be mistletoe.
