And thanks Nikira – your comment came while I was writing my former reply. It looks big because it’s sooo very gooood!
Of course I’m just kidding. I don’t make anything “big looking” it is how the site attributes define it. If you send a post with “portrait” orientation it will appear BIG, because all the posts are all scaled to fit the same width.
… and intensity is due to Rembrandt rich reds with a bit of aid by contrasting (black/almost white) and complementing (green and blue vs. red and orange/ochre)…
Ziza, do you know where in USA I can buy Royal Talens? Because so far I see only Van Gogh offered. Or site where I can order from another country? I cant believe Google has no answer for me.
Thank you, Ziza. I don’t like tubes. I have bunch Winsor& Newton tubes for years, never really used em. I like this half pans Rembrandt in metal box in UK. In Van Gogh a lot of paints replaced by synthetic. White Nights used to be Black River and was made with natural ingredients like honey and casein. This why foil sticks to it like crazyglued. Thank you again for info.
Nikira, you can always squeeze the paint out of the tubes into the empty pans – it’s the same thing. Everyone uses honey and gum-Arabic and yet foil doesn’t stick (or the paper is used). I agree that metal box is the most beautiful. 12 is OK but try to get 24 to be more comfortable (that is about 60 quid which I think is reasonable since they are pigment-rich and you can use a lot of water with them – meaning they’d last for a long long time!) Good luck with your purchase!

Nikira, Royal Talens is a company that (like many others) has several lines of products. Van Gogh is also produced by Talens. However, their highest grade in all lines of production (watercolour, oil, brushes, soft pastels etc.) is branded “Rembrandt”. You can buy something from Cheap Joe’s at:
http://www.cheapjoes.com/art-supplies/4701_rembrandt-watercolor-sets.asp
But the choice is meagre. However, there are many European companies (incl. UK) that would ship to you in US with advantage of buying tax free (meaning 15-20% off). You can also try here:

… in other words search for “Rembrandt watercolors” (they hardly mention factory name Talens in US).
