Transition number 2 – Recession Work – Acrylic/Ink in a Watercolour Moleskine
This follows on from my previous post where I mentioned that things were changing from cold and snowy conditions to damp but milder ones. This is the view looking down my street as the snow begins to clear. The thaw has uncovered a great amount of damage as the pavements (side walks) are badly damaged with “frost heave” splitting them open. Some huge potholes have appeared in the road and our front drive has all but been destroyed by this movement. I’ve already had a visit from our insurers and am hopeful that the repairs will be covered. He tells me this is the case across the country and he has been extremely busy. At least the building industry will be fully employed perhaps leading us out of the recession. Maybe this was all planned by the government.

I like it Bob!.
St. Anthony is celebrated in your country?. (January 17). In some places in Spain is celebrated with bonfires.
There are sayings that refer to this date:
For San Anton half hour more of the sun.
For St. Anthony, the five and with sunny.
For St. Anthony, step small of mouse.
I love the proverbs!!!.

(Castellano-Español):
Me gusta mucho, Bob.

Thanks Susan. Didn’t you know that the government control the weather? They might as well since they seem to have a finger in every other pie

Hi Kirby. We have MANY trees where I stay. My painting was viewed from underneath the tree in question. Here is a photo showing the “reverse view”. The tree you mention is the one above the vehicles on the extreme left where my sketches were made.

Hi Nuria – sorry to take so long to return your message but I’ve tried to find out about St Anthony. This saint is not celebrated much here – at least not that I am aware of (The church of Scotland does not keep saint’s days like the Roman Church) However I find that St Anthony seems to be the patron saint of “Lost things” so I am immediately going to adopt him as I really need some guidance to help with the clutter in my studio

I was curious to see who the saint of “found things” may be. Looks like it’s also St. Anthony. That’s a good thing!

An Irish disk jockey on a local radio station just announced that St. Anthony is the patron saint of domestic animals. I like that!

Brilliant Susan. Now we should all also be aware of St. Catherine of Bologna – the patron Saint of Art and Artists.

PS nice to know that Clarence and Magnus have their own Saint

(English):
Bob and Rudat – San Antonio Abad (San Antón) is the patron of animals not to be confused with San Antonio de Padua is the patron of all things found and partner.
On the day of San Anton animals are blessed for the the priest for that God would protect them.
Bob, your studio is very beautiful!.
