Instantly recognisable. I saw this before reading the title of your post. Did you know he was also a TV chef.
I met him once on the beach in Malibu in the late 1950s. He wasn’t at all dark, but very pleasant and gracious.
I did. Not sure I’d have eaten any of his food though. Might have ended up drugged into unconsciousness and have woken up in a lab some where.
Poor guy gets such a bad rap. I think in his day some women thought he was quite sexy. Mostly I remember him from the Thriller song.
