More autumn color. I used the Dick Blick brand of colored pencils, which I like a lot, and also some Prismacolor Verithins to burnish the color in some spots.

Had a good time looking up these trees on web sites. You are luck to have such a diversity. It was fairly easy since you have kindly provided the names of the trees. I wonder if you recognise this one – the photo was taken by a friend visiting the “Rockies” a couple of years ago. None of us are sure what the one on the left is (he wants me to do a painting of it so I need a title). Is it a type of cottonwood?

I took a look, but it’s hard to tell what it is unless I see a leaf or the bark on the tree, but it could be a cottonwood by the shape. There are two types of cottonwood: the black cottonwood as the leaf above shows, and the Fremont cottonwood in which the leaf has wavy edges.
Anyhow, the picture is lovely, and will be a really nice painting. I would just call it “Colorado Splendor” or something like that unless you have a close-up of a leaf which would help identify it.
