Herreshoff 12 1/2
5″ x 8″ Watercolor
By Kirby
This is something I put together. The sailboat is a Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer wooden construction. Its main sail is called a Gaff. This sail shape is four sided unlike the regular triangular sails that are most popular today. The sail in the front is called a jib. The lighthouse in the background is Pigeon Point Lightouse.

Wow. This is beautiful. I saw several Herreshoff at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat show a few years ago. They definately know what they’re doing when they build boats! Is this one antique? Great job on the water too!

Great work again Kirby love the “light touch” on the sails and water.

Lia,
I don’t know if it was antique or not. Down here in Texas theres not a lot of wooden boats more fiberglass than anything.
Nick,
Thank you. I hope to do more like this. This is my main reason I started watercolors in the first place and why it launched my into doing all kinds of other art i would never thought I could do.
