It’s hard to get the character of wood down and I think in either of these you did a good job.

I’ve just seen it and faved it. I like your pencilwork better (upper one), so don’t give up. I hope I was among those who infected you with pencil-flu. Beware, there’s no vaccine no cure for it. Once you are infected, you’d have to buy only the best and it’s Derwent!

Zizz, it was yours that made me dig the Faber-Castells out. Not sure I am ready for pencil-flu but may play around a bit more. The ink and watercolor is what I do most, though I did some shading things different than normal as an experiment. Honestly it was not my fave ink watercolor, but hey that is what experimenting is all about.
Thanks for the comments, and who knows, I may do another pencil just because. only have about 20 colors, I see why people get so many as the blending is not as easy.
