Here was another “shelf road” from which I got a peek at Mono Lake waaaaay down in the valley. There were aspens just beginning to turn, and a nice couple came by behind me and took a video of me painting this. They promised to send me a copy, so I can’t wait to see how it turned out. This is at about 9,000 feet in elevation. As I came back down in elevation there were meadows with sheep herds, and I kept thinking that being a sheepherder would be an IDEAL sort of job for me.

Really nice Rose. Nice to hear about the video. You should try to post it on something like you tube and offer a link on this website. As to becoming a sheepherder. This sounds too hard. They tried to breed a new variety of sheep for our Scottish mountains. The idea was to create a breed which had longer legs than normal so they could stand taller in the peat bogs as well as producing longer fleeces. Trouble is no one has managed to shear one yet as they are too fast to catch.

Hahahahah, I’d just send my dog to catch them, and I’d get a big dog with huge fangs to keep them quiet while I sheared them. No biggie!
But seriously, every once in a while I see an ad in our local paper for a sheepherder, and I’ve thought about applying, taking my paints along, of course. But with sheep as dumb as they are, maybe that’s not such a great idea?
